Peru and Galapagos

20-day adventure

Combine two of the world's wonders-Machu Picchu and Galápagos. Visit Lima's museums, Cuzco, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chincheros. Spend 3 days and 2 nights at Machu Picchu. Then, fly to Ecuador for a 9-day Galápagos adventure-that's the ultimate nature and cultural experience!

Although we offer a shorter Galapagos and Machu Picchu itinerary, we have found that due to travel times, altitude changes, airfare, and all there is to see and do, our 20-day adventure provides a lot more Peru than our 16-Day version. The additional four days, all in Peru, provide just enough time for you to begin to savor Peru's cultures, history, and its vast, diverse, and stunning landscapes. This itinerary is guaranteed to make you dream of returning for an extended Peruvian visit.

Day 2

Tour historic Lima with visits to the National Museum of Archeology and the Larco Museum. Afternoon grand buffet of seafood and Peruvian specialties.

Day 3

Fly to Cuzco, walking tour of historic Cuzco, dinner of typical Cuzqueñan specialties.

Day 4

Visit Central Market, Inca Museum, and Archbishop's Palace. Afternoon visit to Sacsayhuaman with a private ceremony with Shaman right in the ruins.

Day 5

South of Cuzco, visit Lake Huacarpay and the very old church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas. En route to the Urubamba Valley, see a weaving demonstration and have a picnic lunch in San Salvador. In the Urubamba Valley explore Pisac village and its ruins.

Day 6

Full day exploration with Chinchero Sunday Indian market, visits to Moray Incan horticultural center, Maras salt pans, Ollantaytambo and the ruins of its fortress.

Day 7-9

Spectacular train ride to Machu Picchu for a three day visit (an INCA exclusive) of the ruins. You'll have a guided exploration of the site, take optional hikes with the guide to Machu Picchu Mountain and to Huayna Picchu, and have time to ponder the mysteries of this spot, take photos, or just "hide out" while trainloads of day-trippers make midday cameo appearances. Return by afternoon train to Cuzco on Day 9.

Day 10

Fly to Quito, Ecuador via Lima. Overnight in Quito.

Day 11

Integrity departures: Fly to Galápagos Islands. Visit Santa Cruz Island Highlands. Overnight at The Royal Palm Resort.

Reina Silvia departures: Full day Quito City tour with Equatorial Monument visit.

Day 12

Integrity departures: Visit lava tunnels, Charles Darwin Research Station, the village of Pto. Ayora, enjoy lunch at a water front restaurant, then board the yacht in the late afternoon.

Reina Silvia departures: Fly to Galápagos Islands, board our yacht and start Galápagos cruising!

Day 13-18

Live aboard the yacht and spend as much time exploring the islands as park rules permit. We have at least two shore visits each day, timing them to avoid the large cruise ship groups. We have several chances to swim and snorkel during our week. Each night we travel on to another unique island.

Day 19

We have breakfast on board the yacht, then disembark and fly back to Quito for dinner and overnight.

Day 20

Depart for home, or on to other adventures.
